What's your 2016 Christmas Table Vibe?

December Already?

I am such a Christmas lover and definitely maximize the opportunity to create a new, dynamic table setting each year. Whilst working on Wynnum Plaza’s seasonal gift guide I had the opportunity to explore four varying table themes, each with a different spin that could be altered for your own homes. If you haven’t already realized from both these images and my Instagram feed, I have definitely honed in on the metallic trend this year, combining mixed metals, accent hues and beautiful serving ware. Of course if this is not your style I have delved into a few other options that can create a more homey or natural feel. Check out my 4 tablescape ideas below to help find your perfectly luxe look.

Table 1 - I’m Feelin’ Pink this Christmas

Thinking pink was the theme of this setting, ranging from soft pastel like shades to rich rose gold and burgundy tones. This is a very fun, luxe play on a pretty in pink style, with gold accents to add an extra layer of lush. Are you feeling a bit anxious about this level of pink? Don't be afraid! Simply tone it down with an organic looking, or textured table cloth for more of a relaxed vibe.

Table 2 - It's a Merrily Metallic Christmas

Matt black, shimmering golds and complementary silvers are effortlessly combined within this look to create a more formal looking tableware setting. The best thing about this setting style is that anything can be mixed. Lusting over some matt look cutlery? Already own some amazing gold charger plates? Put them all together and you can get the start of this mixed metallic look. I know we won’t all strategically throw various shades of ribbon and baubles across the table (however do try it is quite fun), but this is such an effortlessly glam look to create, and can be achieved by only purchasing a few new pieces. Introduce some NYC glam to your Christmas spread this year.

Table 3 - Scandinavia is Calling

The third table is a more crafty, Scandi inspired look, channeling a younger more relaxed feel. I combined the traditional Scandi elements – pine, white and red with a hint of gold to inspire you to create a completely different look then previously shown. The Scandi trend has overtaken the home decor market, thus allowing this to become an extremely accessible look, easily combined with your current red and white Christmas decorations elevating its festive feel. If you personally want a more fun and simple table, this could be your go to. Easily modified, updated and tuned to your families tastes.

Table 4 - Bringing it back to earth

For the final look we reigned the level of metallic in (see only a little bit of gold) and got amongst our natural side. We found these amazing stump like place mats and used them to form the entire table, honing in on the earthy feel they extended. Adding extra texture in glassware and ornaments you can create this relaxed green vibe, perfect for an outdoor christmas lunch that is still a little bit luxe.
